Outreach

Through our various outreach programs, we are spreading robotics to others so they can learn a variety of valuable career and life skills. Our goal is to promote science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) at three levels: within FIRST, locally, and internationally.  Within FIRST we are seeking to support FIRST's goal and to make ourselves available to other teams for mutual support.  We interact with rookie and experienced FLL teams as well as being friends with other FTC and FRC teams. Locally we hold open houses and introductory sessions on robotics and the FIRST programs.  We also are working to join our sponsors in supporting causes that they care about such as the Pineapple Classic 5k fundraiser. Internationally, we traveled to Agua Viva children's home in Guatemala in March 2013 to introduce middle school children there to robotics and STEM, and to help prepare their teachers for a continuing program in robotics to introduce STEM. We will return to Guatemala in March of 2015 to impact other schools and begin an FLL program at Agua Viva.  We hope that our approach can be used as a template for other international outreach.
